This school trip to Granada offers students a clear and accessible way to explore one of Spain’s most emblematic historic cities. Over the centuries, Granada has combined Islamic, Christian and Jewish influences, creating an urban landscape where architecture and daily life reveal the region’s multicultural past. Walking through the Alhambra or the Albaicín gives students the chance to understand how art, religion and politics shaped Andalusian society.

Granada is compact, easy to navigate and rich in educational resources. Visits such as the Cathedral, the Royal Chapel or the Monastery of San Jerónimo add context to Spain’s transition from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. Practical workshops — for example on Andalusí plasterwork — help students connect artistic techniques with the monuments they observe. The Science Park introduces a more contemporary, exploratory dimension to the trip, balancing history with hands-on learning. Across four days, the group will experience a structured and varied approach to culture, science and local traditions.

Highlights:

  • Guided visit to the Alhambra and the Albaicín neighbourhood
  • Granada Cathedral and Royal Chapel
  • Photo Rally activity in the historic centre
  • Monastery of San Jerónimo
  • Andalusí plasterwork (yesería) workshop
  • Science Park visit
  • Free time in areas such as Plaza Nueva and Calle Calderería Nueva

Day 1 – Alhambra and Albaicín
Students will begin with a guided visit to the Alhambra, focusing on its palaces, courtyards and defensive structures. The tour will continue in the Albaicín, one of Granada’s oldest neighbourhoods, where narrow streets and viewpoints help illustrate the city’s medieval layout and Andalusí heritage.

Day 2 – Cathedral, Royal Chapel and Photo Rally
The group will visit the Cathedral and the Royal Chapel to understand Granada’s transformation after 1492. Afterwards, students will take part in a Photo Rally activity, encouraging them to observe architectural details, squares and daily life while navigating the historic centre in small, supervised groups.

Day 3 – Monastery and Andalusí plasterwork workshop
In the morning, the group will visit the Monastery of San Jerónimo, a landmark of Renaissance architecture in Granada. Later, students will participate in an Andalusí plasterwork workshop, learning about traditional techniques seen in historic buildings and creating simple decorative patterns of their own.

Day 4 – Science Park and city exploration
The final day will focus on the Science Park, a hands-on space with exhibitions related to physics, biology and technology. After the visit, the group will have supervised free time around Plaza Nueva and Calle Calderería Nueva, areas ideal for observing local crafts and urban life before concluding the trip.
