A school trip to Salamanca offers students the chance to explore a compact, walkable city shaped by centuries of academic life. Its golden sandstone buildings, the balance between medieval streets and university courtyards, and the rhythm of daily life create an environment that naturally supports learning. From the Plaza Mayor to the twin Cathedrals, every landmark provides clear, tangible connections to Spanish cultural and architectural history.

The visit to the University of Salamanca—one of Europe’s oldest—helps students understand how education evolved across different periods. Practical activities such as a tapas workshop, a guided bike tour or a walk along the Tormes River add variety and help the group observe the city from different angles. The excursion to Alba de Tormes introduces a quieter historical setting, where the castle and convent trace the region’s religious and political past. Over four days, students encounter both the academic heritage and the everyday atmosphere that make Salamanca an ideal destination for an educational journey.

Day 1 – Historic centre & tapas workshop
The group will begin with a guided tour of the historic centre, including Plaza Mayor and the Old and New Cathedrals. Afterwards, students will have time to explore the Art Nouveau and Art Deco Museum independently. The day will end with a Spanish tapas workshop, where they will prepare and taste several traditional dishes.

Day 2 – University of Salamanca & chocolate with churros
The morning will focus on the University of Salamanca, founded in 1218, allowing students to observe its Plateresque façade and the Casa de las Conchas. Later, the group will enjoy chocolate with churros—an opportunity to experience a classic element of Spanish food culture within the daily schedule.

Day 3 – Bike tour, river walk & Huerta de los Jesuitas
Students will take part in a guided two-hour bike tour to discover different areas of the city. A riverside walk along the Tormes will offer quieter views and time for informal observation. In the afternoon, the group will visit the Huerta de los Jesuitas freely, using the green space for outdoor exploration.

Day 4 – Alba de Tormes & flamenco show
The final day will start with an excursion to Alba de Tormes, where the group will visit the castle and the Santa Teresa convent—important landmarks for understanding the region’s heritage. After returning to Salamanca, the day will conclude with a flamenco show introducing students to music, dance and cultural traditions in a structured and accessible format.
